Practice started May 14th!
ALL SVST practices are cancelled today, Thursday May 17th. Our New Member Meeting is also cancelled. We will reschedule the New Member meeting and swimsuit fittings for a later date to be announced
FLIP TURNS CLINIC THIS SATURDAY! For ages 11 and UP (sign up on the bulletin board)

The coaches are offering a special clinic to learn and practice flip turns. SIGN up on the bulletin board. Cost is 3 dollars payable at the door on Saturday.
Saturday, May 19th, 9:30 to 10:30 AM (ages 11 and up)

All 6 and unders practice together Monday through Thursday this week (at the 6 and under practice time). This is so the coaches can determine who will be on Pre-Swim and who will be on the regular swim team. Coach Eric will communicate with Pre-Swim parents by the end of the week.

The weather may be chilly, or stormy. The weather hotline is 919-363-4411 to see if practices are being held for your age group.

Bring goggles, lots of towels and warm clothes. For swimmers with long hair, it is helpful to have your hair tied back or in a swim cap.

Please note we are hosting a NEW MEMBER meeting on Wednesday at 7 PM and Thursday at 7 PM this week. Please try to attend ONE if you are able. This is a chance for new members to meet the swim team board and ask questions.

Swimsuits! Caroline Silver will be placing an order soon. If you'd like to order a team suit please:

Place an order by coming to the pool on Thursday from 6:30 - 8:00 PM. Varying sizes will be available to try on. See Maya or Leslie.
If you cannot make a time above but need to try on a size, please email Leslie at bilbro@bellsouth.net to arrange an alternate try on time.
IF YOU KNOW YOUR SIZE already please email Caroline Silver at cwsilver@ecanc.com.

If you missed Registration Day please mail in your forms and payment as soon as possible. Swimmers will not be allowed to practice until registration is complete. In order for registration to be complete you must:
- Pay pool membership dues
- Fill out the Registration Form (download and print )
- Pay swim team dues
- Sign up for your volunteer slots (3 full credits plus one alternate position), (or contact Theresa Klose klosets@gmail.com)

*Our team traditionally competes in the Southern Wake Invitational Meet. This year the meet will be at Lochmere on Sunday July 8th. We usually have a great time and do very well at this meet so please mark your calendars.

**This year the TSA is bringing back the old TSA Championship Meet. This meet has not been held since 1998! For 2012, the TSA Championship Meet will be at TAC (indoor aquatic center near Cary Towne Center). The format has yet to be determined. We’ll let you know details as they unfold.

The Killer Whales Finish 2nd in the SWIM Meet
Congratulations Killer Whales on a great SECOND PLACE FINISH at the Southern
Wake Invitational Meet. Lochmere took first (they had twice as many swimmers in attendance). Full results are posted at the MOR site.

Swim Team Board Meetings are scheduled for the 3rd Wednesday of every month at 7pm at the pool during swim season.

Scholarships and Grants for Swimmers
Parents of Rising Seniors and Graduating Seniors – Scholarships are available through TSA!

* In July 2010, the TSA awarded $400 Cecil L. Williamson TSA Educational Grants to twenty recent high school graduates. Congratulations to the Educational Grant recipients!
UPDATE: Starting in 2011, the number of grants will increase to 25!

Shepherd's Vineyard is part of the TSA (Tarheel Swimming Association). The TSA has over 70 teams and over 10,000 swimmers!
