2009 S.W.I.M. Meet

S.W.I.M.- The Southern Wake Invitational Meet at Sunset Ridge will
take place on Sunday, July 12th
.  The coaches would like to encourage
everyone to participate in this meet.  This meet is made up of many
teams from the southern TSA league, with the 10&under swimmers
competing in the morning and the 11&over swimmers competing in the
afternoon.  There is a charge of $6/swimmer, plus $2/event.  Swimmers
can select which events they would like to swim (up to 3 individual
events for 7&over or 2 individual events for 6&under).  Relays will be
determined by the coaches.  Please note that 6&unders will have to
swim 25 yards for this meet.  If you are interested, please complete
the attached form and give payment to one of the coaches by JUNE 26th.
If you do NOT plan on attending, please sign your child out of the
meet.  Thanks. Maya

Please note that the entries for the S.W.I.M. invitational meet were
due to the coaches by Friday, June 26th
.  There has been an unusually
low response this year.  I would like for everyone to reconsider going
to this meet.  The coaches strongly encourage great participation in
this meet.  Our team has won the event in the past and hope to place
well again (and show that great team spirit).  It is my understanding
that the meet will be smaller this year as several larger clubs have
decided to enter the Cary City meet.  You still have time to get your
entries in to the coaches... please email coach Maya, or bring your
completed entries and money to the coaches BY THE END OF THE MEET
TUESDAY, JUNE 30.  The SWIM Meet is Sunday, July 12 at Sunset Ridge
Swim Club.

If you can't make the SWIM invitational meet, it would be helpful for
you to sign out on the bulletin board
(I may have to make some phone
calls to get enough for relays and it helps to know who can't attend).
I understand that some people were not able to open the file sent
with the original weekly message, but you can fill it out on any paper
with your swimmers' name, the events that you want to swim (up to 3
for 7&over, 2 for 6&under) and please make a note whether you could be
available for relays (you don't need to leave early).

2009 Cary City Meet
The Cary City Meet will be held Saturday, July 18th at Cary Swim Club.
The 10&under swimmers will begin warmup at 7:00 and the 11&over
session will begin at the conclusion of the morning session (around
1:30).  Every swimmer may choose 3 events to swim (2 for 6&under) and
the cost is $3/event.  Even though our team focus meet is the SWIM
meet, there are several that would like to attend this meet as well.
If you would like to attend Cary City, I must have all information for
this meet by Friday, July 3rd (NO LATER).

Thanks,
Coach Maya mayaress@nc.rr.com or 462-3261

PS - If you have any questions about what happens in an invitational
meet, please talk to Coach Maya - it is fun!   I tacked some printed
SWIM entry forms to the swim team board near the water fountain at the
pool also to be filled out.  Quick info:  Cost $6 per swimmer/$2 per
event (stroke), no cost for relays
- checks made to Maya Ress.  7 and
olders can swim 3 events, 6 and unders 2 events (no fly). 10 and
unders warm up at 8AM and the meet starts for them at 9AM. 11 and
olders warm up at 1:30 and they swim at 2:30. This is a very well run
swim meet and moves quickly and there is shade for the parents.
Please support our team and sign up - The Killer Whales have done very
well in this meet in the past few years against the best of the Wake
County swim teams and it is great to watch our swimmers celebrate. We
need your help.  Go Killer Whales!
