Killer Whales Weekly Message
For 2011, Messages are available in PDF format
2010 Messages are below:
Gotta love that headline! For the first time ever (we think), we beat Lochmere! Tremendous thanks to all the patient swimmers, volunteers and supportive parents. Congratulations to everyone!
If you are going to miss the meet, arrive late or leave early, please notify Coach Maya ASAP via e-mail ressmaya@gmail. Click Here for directions to Abbington. Remember also to review your Redbook for dual meets. Go Killer Whales!
Please, please double check your swimmer number and make sure you are writing down the correct one on both arms. Also, NO ROMAN NUMERALS on the arms please. In order to minimize errors, timers need to be able to quickly see and record the numbers
A reminder: please help clean up when you leave the pool after the meet. This is especially important at away meets to keep the Killer Whales reputation for good sportsmanship. Is anyone actually reading this weekly message? If so, keep reading ‘cause there could be cash involved….
The Southern Wake Invitational Meet (SWIM) will take place on Sunday, July 11th at Lochmere. The coaches would like to encourage all Killer Whales to participate in this meet. This meet is made up of many teams from the southern TSA league, with the 10&under swimmers competing in the morning and the 11&over swimmers competing in the afternoon. There is a charge of $7/swimmer, plus $2.25/event. Swimmers can select which events they would like to swim (up to 3 individual events for 7&over or 2 individual events for 6&under). Relays will be determined by the coaches. Please note that 6&unders will have to swim 25 yards for this meet. The Killer Whales won this meet in 2006, 2007 and we are the reigning champions from last year too. Help us win another! Return your form and payment by JUNE 25th. If you do NOT plan on attending, PLEASE SIGN YOUR SWIMMER OUT on the sign OUT sheet. The SIGN OUT sheet is on the bulletin board . Questions? Ask Coach Maya. ressmaya@gmail.com or 462-3261.
Need a little extra practice? Attend our Stroke Clinic this Saturday morning. Sign up sheets will be on the bulletin board by Wednesday night at 5:15. Please sign up to attend. The cost is 3 dollars, payable at the door.
“Killer Whale parents are the best. After bringing their assigned items on Tuesday so many of you brought snacks and drinks again on Wednesday helping us to have our biggest profit for one night ever. We were so appreciative of all the drinks, snack and homemade items that poured in. We also appreciate Ken Convery, a new parent on the team helping Patrick cooking all those dogs and hamburgers. Thank you for helping beyond what was originally asked of you and helping your swim team. We appreciate it. Ellen and Dru”
Caroline Silver will bring all the used suits that didn’t sell back to the pool this week. Or you can contact her to get them back. Her e-mail address is: cwsilver@ecanc.com
Time to be announced….
For two years straight (he thinks), Coach Eric has had to jump in the pool to stop the swimmers from swimming on a false start. His false start jumping streak ended last Tuesday night. So the question is: “When will Eric jump again?” Can you predict the event at Abbington? Drop off a dollar at the volunteer table to be eligible to win the pot. Fifty percent goes to our team. Fifty percent to you! Sign up and give your guess (first come, first choice).
