Note from the coach Maya...
I am very excited about the progress the team has made. And to think, the weather is finally warm enough to enjoy it more!
There will be NO morning practice on Wednesday, June 11th. Unfortunately, the pool gets cleaned Wednesday mornings and management has asked that we not hold practice that day. So, morning practices will start on Thursday, June 12th.
The Red/White meet is just over a week away... please make sure you sign your child out by Sunday night, June 8th if you are going to miss the meet (or any part of the meet). Remember that all meet signout sheets are posted at the pool. Please check your vacation and calendars and go ahead and sign your children out as soon as possible.
The deadline for ordering swim suits was Tuesday, June 3rd. email to Caroline Silver at cwsilver@ecanc.com After this date, you can order your suit through Augusta Swim Supply at 1-888-799-7946 (mention Shepherd's Vineyard to get the team discount for the Quantum Splice in red/black), and you will incur shipping charges.
Thursday, June 5th is the Pasta Pig Out from 5:30-7:30 p.m. (swimmers will eat before or after their practice). Bring a pasta dish to share! This event is for the entire family of swim team members. Paper goods (plates, utensils, napkins) and drinks will be provided. Any questions please call: Karie Garner 362-1916/Nikki Langlois 363-7063Note: Glass dishes are not allowed in the pool area.
Spiritwear store will be open during practice on June 5th.
Friday, June 6th is the deadline for sending in forms to be a BIG WHALE. The form can be found here and can be turned in to any coach.
There will be a 2 clinics at the pool Saturday morning, June 7th (9:30-10:00and 10:00-10:30) that will be focusing on starts. Unfortunately, diving is something that is very difficult to teach during the short practice times; therefore, if you can't dive or need extra help, try the clinic. The sign up sheet will be posted at 5:00 on Tuesday at the pool (bulletin board near meet sign out sheets) and space is limited. We ask that you sign up in order to attend the clinic, so we can allow for enough coaching assistance. There is a $3 fee for the clinic.
For 6&under parents, if you have not been notified that your child is on the pre-swim team, then your child is on the swim team for now. There may be times (especially when starting new strokes) that we may place a child with the pre-swim team, but for now, they are practicing with the team. Sorry for any confusion.
Go Killer Whales!!
