Killer Whales Weekly Message
June 15, 2009
Hi SVST Killer Whale Familes -
Our first HOME DUAL meet of the season is Tuesday, June 16 against the Wellsley Wave. Please go to www.svkw.com and click on Red Book on the left side of the page and then scroll down to Dual Meets for complete details. The FLU seems to be sweeping through our team this year, especially in the younger age groups. Please watch your children for symptoms and keep them away from the pool/meets if they are not well. This flu has many symptoms, but NOT necessarily any fever (extreme fatigue, sore throat, headache...). If your child does become ill and will not make the meet, please contact Coach Maya by email or phone. I understand this may be the very last thing on your mind, but very important for team members and relays. I do not want to take word of mouth from another team member only to find out that it was not true. Please don't be a no-show! Always sign your child out of any meets that you won't make.
Highlights: OUR TEAM'S WARM-UPS START AT 5:00PM. Please arrive by 4:50 in time to check in with the coaches, get your swimmer numbers, see your swimmer's events on the board near the diving boards and set your younger kid's gear up in the age group area (marked by the flags).
Meet: Starts at 6:00pm Volunteers Still Needed: We need 2 Timers for the 1st Half and also help for Concessions and Ribbon Writing. Please step up and help!! Contact Robin at 363-3940 or robin@balddog.com.
Concessions: Thank you to everyone that brought drinks and snacks last week. We earned a good amount for the swim team and this week we should do even better. Please remember to bring your snacks and drinks and come hungry. We are asking every family whose name begins with M-Z to bring two 1 liter bottles of soda or juice or a 12 pack of water and those of you that have last names starting with A-L should bring some homemade or store bought treats. We appreciate everyone's willingness to help out.
At the Wellsley meet on June 16th we will be serving; ice cream, smoothies, Jersey Mike's Subs, pizza, and baked potatoes with toppings, and as requested Chick-Fil-A. We will also have the snacks and drinks. Thanks, Dru Hale Druhale@mindspring.com.
Parking: As a courtesy to the other team, we let them use our parking lot (and we have had a lot of good publicity for it). Please see the Red Book for details about other parking near the pool so you don't get towed.
Weather: Even if it looks like the weather will be a problem, the meet is ON until the officials at the meet decide about a delay because of the inconvience to all if it is delayed or rescheduled. Please see the Red Book for complete details. Hotline number 363-4411.
Remember - the Killer Whales defeated the Waves last year to win the Division Title - Go SV Killer Whales! Look for our 2008 Championship Banner.
S.W.I.M.- The Southern Wake Invitational Meet at Sunset Ridge will take place on Sunday, July 12th. The coaches would like to encourage everyone to participate in this meet. This meet is made up of many teams from the southern TSA league, with the 10&under swimmers competing in the morning and the 11&over swimmers competing in the afternoon. There is a charge of $6/swimmer, plus $2/event. Swimmers can select which events they would like to swim (up to 3 individual events for 7&over or 2 individual events for 6&under). Relays will be determined by the coaches. Please note that 6&unders will have to swim 25 yards for this meet. If you are interested, please complete this form and get form and payment to one of the coaches by JUNE 26th. If you do NOT plan on attending, please sign your child out of the meet.
