Thank you to all of the volunteers that enabled Shepherd’s Vineyard to host a successful meet last night against Dutchman Downs. Mother Nature cooperated – until we stopped by the Ice Cream Shoppe! The winners of the $10 gift cards were Bill White, Mike Scott & Jean Erlemann.
We appreciate everyone’s patience as we implemented a new software program to assist the coaches in preparation of the Meet Lineups. The effect on swimmers & parents was a new format for the meet sheets.
Attention: Parents of swimmers with longer hair – A swim cap is strongly suggested for these swimmers – both at practice and at the meets – because their hair will interfere with their sight, their stroke and their breathing pattern. Please encourage your swimmer to wear a swim cap to secure their hair. Please help the younger swimmers to develop this practice early.
Upcoming Events
Thursday, June 21st – Bowling Night – Gather a group of your SVST friends and go bowling at the AMF Lanes at South Hills. No sign up is necessary. Just arrive around 6:30 and bowl as much as you wish.
Saturday, June 23rd – Swim Clinic – A sign up sheet will be posted at the pool tonight (Wednesday) by 5:30. The format will be the same as the previous 2 Saturday clinics. The coaches will work with a small group on Starts/Dives from 9:00-9:30 and on Turns from 9:30-10:00. The clinic price is $3 per person payable to Sarah Otvos at the clinic.
Saturday, June 23rd – Teen Night at the Pool – More details to follow
Thursday, June 28th – Skating at Jellybeans – look for posters at the pool
Friday, June 29th – Durham Bulls Night and NO Evening Practice
Sign-Out Sheet is Missing! Unfortunately, the Sign out Sheet for the July 3rd meet against Preston is missing. A new one will be posted. If you are not able to attend the July 3rd meet – Please sign out on the new sheet. As always, sign out sheets must be completed by 5 pm on the Sunday preceding the meet.
Friday, July 6th – Morning Practice Times will be Different for some age groups – The Marlins of Raleigh will be hosting a Breaststroke Clinic. The clinic times are as follows: 9:30-10:15-11 & up, 10:15-11:00-ages 7-10, and 10:30-11:00 for 6 and under. This clinic is FREE and will be in lieu of morning practice on July 6th.
Next Swim Meet is at Cary Swim Club on June 26th. If you are not able to attend, please sign out on the pool bulletin board by 5 pm Sunday, June 24th. The directions to Cary Swim Club are in the Red Book. Please arrive at the pool in time to begin warm-ups at 5:30. The Cary meet is always a very exciting one. Volunteers – please check in at the Volunteer Table (small table with Red Tablecloth) that will be located near our designated area on the Cary Swim Club pool deck. Please check in as soon as you arrive at the meet – even if your volunteer job does not begin quite yet. By checking in early, this enables us to assess what tasks are under-staffed and then we can recruit more volunteers if necessary.
