Killer Whales Weekly Message

June 29, 2009

Hi SVST Swim Team Members - Congrats to our swimmers on another great
win over Cary Swim Club last Tuesday!  Killer Whales 300 - Imps 214.

Home Meet Tomorrow (Tuesday June 30th) against the Greystone Gators.
Our team's warm-ups start at 5:00pm.  If you are going to miss the
meet, leave early, etc., please let Coach Maya know ASAP.
mayaress@nc.rr.com or 462-3261  Additional info see the Red Book or
www.svkw.com.  Remember to check your swimmers relay schedule before
you leave early so no one is left without a teammate and can't swim.

CONCESSIONS FOR FUNDRAISING: If your last name starts with A-L, please
bring a drink (2 liters of soda, juice or 12 pack of water), if your
last name starts with M-Z, please bring a snack (homemade or
pre-packaged).  Drop off at the concession area.  Questions:  Dru Hale
at 219-9815.

BANQUET NEWS –The Killer Whale Awards Banquet is July 23rd from 6-8pm
at Hope Chapel in Apex.

The SV Swim Team Banquet is always a highlight of the year.  The
coaches, the swim team board and several volunteers are already
working to make this years banquet a memorable event!  Returning as
our caterer is McCall’s restaurant featuring a menu of: BBQ pulled
pork, Fried and BBQ chicken, slaw, green beans, potato salad,
hushpuppies, banana pudding, pearch and cherry cobbler!

Tickets will be on sale beginning the week of July 6th at our meets
and practices. Details will be posted soon.

Lost and Found and Clean-Up - There were some items left at the Cary
meet in our swimmers area (towels, toys, etc.).  If you are missing
something, it may be at lost and found at our pool.  If you are
missing something valuable, contact me.  Also, a reminder to help
clean up when you leave the pool after the meet.  At the Cary meet,
there was a lot of discarded food and drink not put into the trash
cans.  The coaches went above and beyond after the meet to help to
clean up and throw away the trash and to gather the lost items.  We
are all in a hurry to get home after a long meet, but please take a
few seconds on your way out to help clean up the trash.  This is
especially important at Away meets to keep the Killer Whales
reputation for good sportsmanship.

Still time to sign-up for SWIM (July 12):  Several of the big clubs
will not be swimming at this years SWIM invitational meet so we have a
good chance of recapturing this championship, but we need swimmers!
The meet will be held Sunday, July 12th at Sunset Ridge Swim Club.
Entry deadline is at the end of the meet on Tuesday, June 30th.
Please join us and help the team. Contact Coach Maya or see the June
27th e-mail for more details.

Good luck to all swimmers on Tuesday night - WE ARE THE SHEPHERD'S
VINEYARD KILLER WHALES - LET'S GO!
