Good Evening Swimmers & Parents! It’s time for another weekly message!
Monday, July 16th – Mini Meet – This event is for potential SVST swimmers. A separate email with all the details was sent earlier.
Our next meet is Tuesday, July 17th at Home. We are hosting Wellsley. Our warm-ups will begin promptly at 5 pm. As always, parking is an issue, so I suggest walking/cycling to the pool. The concession stand will be selling Grilled Hot Dogs, Domino’s Pizza and Chick-Fil-A Sandwiches as well as the usual concession stand fare. Bake Sale items will be provided by the 7/8 and 9/10 age groups.
A note from the Kid Pusher volunteers – Parents, please help your swimmer report to the kid pusher when the announcer says “First Call”. The Kid Pusher will hold up the red sign with the age group on the pool deck in the area behind the coaches. The kid pushers cannot search the pool for wayward swimmers. Some swimmers missed their event last week because they could not be found in time.
General reminders for swimmers – Please represent SVST as a good host by cheering positively, being a humble winner, walking (not running) on the pool deck and keeping the bathrooms clean.
We are looking for parents who would like to serve on the 2008 SVST Board. Please consider helping to continue the success of our team. Contact any of the current board members for more information or just respond to this email.
Friday, July 20th from 7-9 Swim Team Banquet - We need volunteers for set up and clean up. If you can help, email Joy Wilkes at jtwilkes@bellsouth.net . We will begin setting up at 5. We will be doing a menu of appetizers and will be allocating by age group. See the separate email for more information.
A New Look for Miki -Calling all artists young and old!
Do you ever imagine Miki sitting in a pool chair? Wearing a Hawaiian shirt? Or posing for a photo with swimmers? Or even just swimming along with a big, fat grin on his face? Well, now is the time to get those creative juices flowing and put a drawing pen to paper, because our Killer Whale mascot is looking for a new image.
We would like a couple of new pictures of Miki that we can use as artwork in our handbook, on our website, or on Spiritwear products. Two winning entries will be chosen to receive prizes: For the under-18 entrant, a Goodberry’s gift card; for entrant 18 and older, 25 Spiritwear Bucks (good on all Spiritwear items).
Deadline for entries is Tuesday, July 17th. You can submit your entry in one of several ways:
* Turn it in at the Spiritwear table at one of our last two home meets,
July 10 or July 17.
* E-mail your picture to the Spiritwear Volunteer, Lynn Dessenberger: ldessen@bellsouth.net.
* Hand-deliver it to Lynn who lives in the Buckingham subdivision. Lynn’s
phone number: 387-0839.
