Killer Whales Weekly Message
KILLER WHALES WIN S.W.I.M !!!
SVST was victorious in the 4th annual SWIM hosted by the Marlins of Raleigh (M.O.R.) at Sunset Ridge Swim Club on July 12. SV scored 2344 points to edge out the YMCA with 2290.5 points. Great job swimmers and coaches. There were over 460 swimmers from 12 summer swim clubs competing at the meet which serves as a championship meet for local summer league swimmers.

Volunteers for the AWAY Lochmere meet still needed. Contact Robin at 363-3940 or robin@balddog.com if you can help your kids and the other swimmers. Lochmere is at 502 East Lochmere Drive in Cary (859-2152). Coach Maya needs all swimmers to be at Lochmere NO LATER THAN 5:20pm.

THURSDAY JULY 23 BANQUET - The Killer Whale Awards Banquet is July 23rd from 6-8pm at Hope Chapel in Apex. Get your tickets at the Lochmere meet(look for the red, black and white striped sign.)You may also call or e-mail Leslie Bilbro directly, 812-0346 or bilbro@bellsouth.net. Additionally, ticket sellers will be present at many practices (AM and PM). All tickets must be bought in advance - deadline is Friday, July 17. Returning as our caterer is McCall's restaurant featuring a menu of: BBQ pulled pork, fried and BBQ chicken, slaw, green beans, potato salad, hush puppies, banana pudding, and peach and cherry cobbler. Prices: $7.00 per plate for adults/$4.00 per plate for children 12 and under/$25.00 maximum family rate. Please make checks payable to Shepherds Vineyard Swim Team. See attached for complete details.
Photos Needed for Slideshow: If you have photos of your swimmers that you want to contribute to the banquet slideshow, please contact Darian and Justin at darian@polygraphics.com to arrange e-mail or a CD exchange. The more photos we have early, the better the show.
Preston Meet: Yes, it was Preston 340.5, SV 173.5. But that is more than any team has scored against Preston all year, including the meet in which Preston beat the number 1 seed in the Northern Division (Seven Oaks) 342 to 172. Thanks to the swimmers and coaches!
SV POOL Ice Cream Social this Thursday July 16: Join all our pool members and swimmers for an ice cream social starting at 6:30pm. Please see the sign up sheets at the pool to bring enough ice cream and toppings for all.
Cary City Meet: Saturday, July 18th at Cary Swim Club. Warmups for 10&under scheduled for 7:00 with the meet starting at 8:15. 11&over warmups scheduled for 1:30 with the meet starting at 2:15. These times can change so please check the hotline for updates. Contact Coach Maya at 462-3261 or mayaress@nc.rr.com for more details.
More from Coach Maya: SVST Mini-Meet for our up and coming swimmers soon - check your e-mail and the swim team board at the pool for details. Also, parents, please have your swimmers check with the coaches for their ribbons after practice this week - it is hard to sort all the remaining ribbons at the banquet. Also, if you cannot attend the banquet, we can send your swimmer's trophy home with a friend or neighbor - let Coach Maya know.
